Our Approach
The International Center is the best place to learn English is New York. At the International Center, you can practice your English, meet Americans, learn about American culture, and make friends with people from all over the world.

We are a unique English language learning center, offering classes, workshops and one-to-one conversation partnerships.  When you visit us, you will find a unique learning environment that goes beyond a typical academic language and culture program. When you first enter our lounge or conversation room, you will be greeted by a welcoming community eager to introduce you to American life.

Our students, whom we call members, come from 95 countries and range in age from 18 to 78. They are immigrants, refugees, asylees, US Citizens, diplomats, tourists, visiting business professionals, members of the press and other media, international students, temporary visitors and their families.

How to Join Us
In order to learn English at the International Center, you must first become a member of the Center. To become a member, you must fill out an application. To fill out an application, you can either come to the Center or fill out our online application.

After we receive your application, we will contact you with available orientation times. At your orientation appointment, we will give you information about our programs, a tour of our facilities, and answer any of your questions. You will have the opportunity to register to become a member. When you come to the Center for your orientation appointment, please bring: 

• 2 small photos
• Identification
• Payment of membership fee in cash, check, or Visa/Mastercard/American Express.

The basic membership price as of January 2, 2008 will be:

• $500 for 6-month memberships
• $300 for 6-month renewal
• $750 for 12-month membership

Special Summer Pricing (valid through September 15th)

• 1-month membership: $150
• 6-month membership: $450
• 12-month membership: $600

Special Summer Conversation Partnership Pricing (valid through September 15th)

• 2 10-week conversation partnerships: $250
  
  

Scholarships are available to those immigrants who qualify.

You must be 18 years old or older to study at the Center.

The Center does not accept beginners to English. You must have a basic knowledge of English to join the Center. If you need to find English classes at the beginner level, please check out a list the Literacy Assistance Center provides.
